“A Pilots Story” Film Captures the Passion of Flying

APilotsStory Great films are rare. Great flying movies that evoke the passion of flying are even rarer. I’m happy to say that A Pilot’s Story looks like it will be one of those rare films that move us as pilots and reconnect us with the passion that permanently bonds us to aviation. Best of all, it may inspire a new generation of pilots to enter the fray. One couldn’t ask for more.

You won't see the film…

"appearing in a theater near you” any time soon—Wilco Films says they’re currently targeting a release in early 2010. But on the theory that it’s never too early to start talking about something great, here’s the scoop.

Will Hawkins and Rico Sharqawi, who live nearby me in northern California, are the creative forces behind the film. Already they’ve shot dozen of pilots, both ordinary and extraordinary. Some you’ll recognize and some you won’t. But they all communicate passion and excitement for aviation. You can hear It in their voices and see it in their smiles. Like EAA AirVenture, Will and Rico are bringing together the best of aviation, and communicating it in a way that will captivate even non-pilots.

You can view two of the film trailers at www.apilotstory.com. If you are on Facebook, go to their page and click to become a fan where you can also view trailers. It’s going to be a long wait to get to see the full film in 2010, but you can sign up on their Web site to receive updates throughout the year. And perhaps someday soon, A Pilot’s Story will be appearing in a theater near you.

  1. Patrick, I don’t know the details of the release. It would be a great movie to show at the outdoor theater at AirVenture. Patrick, from what I’ve seen, I like it better than One Six Right, which focused more on the VNY airport. This focuses more on pilots which I find more interesting.
